The history of Hotel Djúpavík

They saw little bit of tourists in the area and got the idea to open a hotel. Soon they started to renovate the old “kvennabraggann” living quarters for women and convert it into a hotel. What has characterized the hotel all the year is warm and respect for the “old time” Having the couple always emphasized to keep the old values.

Every year we get new faces in the group staff and have these people contributed to help the hotel to grow and prosper through all the years. We are infinitely grateful for their contribution and to get to know these people.

It is safe to say that “The old herring factory” is the heart Djupavík. The family has made immeasurable work at it to try and save the house from the start.
