The winter kingdom of the Strandir region on the eastern side of the Westfjords area is our destination on this tour. This time of year the area is only reachable by super jeeps that are specially equipped. Through highland roads covered with snow we will take you to a small country hotel in Djúpavík, a mysteriously charming village where time has stood still. The old abandoned herring factory serves as a remnant of the past, and houses a small museum commemorating the golden era. After our visit we will go on a snowmobile trip to the hills above the village and in the evening we hope to see the aurora borealis light up night sky for us. The next day we will explore the area in our super jeeps and venture as far beyond civilization as we dare. On the way from Reykjavík we will stop to visit the waterfalls and hot springs of Borgarfjörður, that in winter have a distinct charm. This is an unforgettable winter adventure to one of the most remote areas in Iceland.
